1. Who Has a Youth Account?
You must be at least 13 to have an independent Orqestra account. If you are 13 or older but have not yet reached the age of majority in your province or territory, Orqestra classifies your account as a Youth Account. People under 13 may browse public pages where permitted but cannot create an independent account.
2. What We Ask For
We ask for your birth year and province or territory so we can determine which account protections and eligibility rules apply. If your birth year falls on a legal or product boundary, we may ask one simple follow-up question about whether you have reached that threshold. We do not need your full date of birth for ordinary account classification.
This eligibility information is private. Organizations do not automatically receive your birth year, province or territory, or threshold answer.
3. What Youth Accounts Can Do
Youth Accounts can generally discover and apply for volunteer opportunities, participate in eligible events, receive verified volunteer hours, build Impact, buy ordinary Marketplace items, buy ordinary event tickets, and communicate in legitimate Orqestra participation contexts. An organization may set a lawful minimum age, require activity-specific authorization or adult accompaniment, or apply other legitimate eligibility rules.
4. Focused Financial and Administration Restrictions
Youth Accounts cannot independently sell Marketplace goods, receive payouts, operate a Stripe Connected Account, donate money through Youth Account v1, create or manage a fundraiser, control fundraising proceeds, bid in auctions, or manage organization finances or payment settings.
These focused restrictions do not mean Youth Accounts are barred from every transaction: ordinary Marketplace purchases and ordinary event-ticket purchases may be available.
6. Stronger Privacy Defaults
Youth Participation, Verification, and Impact are not public by default. Organizations and their authorized administrators receive only information needed for an activity or relationship. A guardian receives only the activity-specific request and the information needed to respond.
Do not share unnecessary private contact, identity, financial, health, or location information in messages. Adults and organizations must use Youth communication only for legitimate participation purposes and must not try to bypass Youth safeguards.
7. Safety Reporting
Use an available reporting or support channel if an interaction, organization, activity, message, or guardian situation feels unsafe. Orqestra may preserve and review relevant information and route a concern as appropriate. If a guardian is identified as an alleged risk, the system suppresses automatic guardian notification.
If you or someone else may be in immediate danger, contact local emergency services. For a crisis or self-harm concern, contact an appropriate crisis service or emergency service; Orqestra is not an emergency or crisis-response service.
8. Becoming a Standard Account
When you reach the age of majority for your province or territory, your account transitions to a Standard Account. Your historical Participation, Verification, verified Impact, authorization history, and applicable privacy records stay intact.
9. Existing Accounts Without Age Information
Orqestra does not guess or fabricate age information. Existing users without age eligibility information may continue ordinary low-risk use, but must provide birth year and province or territory before an age-sensitive action.
